Dear Students,
Our Department agreed to establish a department in 1992 within Sakarya University. The student recruitment was in the academic year 2005-2006. Night education was opened in 2007-2008. The M.Sc. program started in 2006-2007, while the Ph.D. program started in the 2009-2010 academic year. The department gave its first graduates in the 2008-2009 academic year.
Our department is available in 4 branches of science: botany, general biology, zoology, and Molecular Biology. Trained in different areas of expertise by the department's 10 faculty members and 8 research assistants, it is a young and dynamic team that continues its academic studies. Their top-level research faculty members and our trained professionals with existing research laboratories in related fields continue to evolve in parallel with technology. Constantly increasing the number of publications in international and national journals, including SCI, primarily engages our faculty and many successful projects. Undergraduate and graduate students can work in research laboratories throughout the thesis.
Biology undergraduate students and double major success during the training facilities are also provided. Our undergraduate and graduate students can benefit from exchanging students between higher education institutions abroad and within the country such as Erasmus, Farabi, and Mevlana programs.

Biological sciences are one of the most critical areas of basic science and have significantly contributed to solving the mystery of life. Therefore, you should start a bachelor's life to understand biology. You can see the importance of science education. Trained as biologists who have a bachelor's degree program learn knowledge, skills, competencies, and qualifications basic concepts and theories related to life sciences in the Department of Biology student. The students who complete the program can apply for an M. Sc. or Ph.D. in biology or science, accepting students from other disciplines. Also, our graduates are finding the opportunity to work in public institutions (Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning, Ministry of Science, Industry, and Technology, Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs, TÜBİTAK, Atomic Energy Authority, Minister of Environment, Sea Science Research Institute), research institutes, natural history in museums, botanical gardens, arboretum, in special classrooms and laboratories, treatment facilities, zoos, production and aquaculture in pharmaceutical factories and business facilities.
